History:

The D.P.I. was built in 1754 by Captain Daniel Packer. The Packer family owned the house up until the 1970's.

In the 1700's, the Inne was used as a place to stop and rest for people passing between Boston & New York.

The Inne under went restoration in the 1980s by Richard and Lulu Kiley and was turned into a restaurant and pub and remains with the family today.

Some employees say that the Captain still roams the old Inne along with a small child by the name of Aida.

Some of the reported activty at the DPI include: Feelings of being watched, strange noises behind closed doors in empty rooms, the sound of a little girl laughing, glasses tend to slide off the tables or tip over from time to time, and some say the large mirror on the 1st floor is some type of portal to the other side.

There was one instance on the 1st floor in front of the Captain's room, an employee was blowing up balloons when the caps from the helium tank flew off the table and hit the employee in the rear end.

The CPEAR group heard of the old Inne being haunted through a friend that eats at the restaurant from time to time, so we decided to call and ask if it was okay for us to investigate and we were given the opportunity.

The investigation:

We arrived at the DPI around 8:30pm for dinner before we started setting up the equipment. We heard before hand how great the food is at the DPI, so of course we had to eat there. We quickly found out that all the stories of how great the food is was 100% true. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to have a nice dinner out.

After dinner our team of 10 started setting up our surveillance equipment throughout the DPI. We used 4 surveillance cameras and a couple regular camcorders to try and capture any sort of movement  that may occur throughout the night. We also used several digital voice recorders to try and capture any disembodied voices during EVP sessions.

During our EMF sweep of the place, we did notice high fluctuations of emf's on the 1st floor and 2nd floor in the back left corner of the room coming from the outside powerlines that ran right up to the side of the building. This is the same area where people were getting strange feelings of being watched or just feeling a presence near them. This is a side effect caused by being sensitive to high emf exposure and the likely cause of the feels people are having in the corner of the room.

We were also able to find an alternative reason behind the glasses sliding across the table. Most of the tables on the first floor are bade of wood with a gloss finish. If the table top is slightly wet along with the bottom of the glass, they can slide across the table from time to time.

We also found that voices from outside and down stairs in the bar are very easily heard throughout the Inne. This could be one reason people are hearing the sound of a little girl laughing. If there are young children playing outside around some of the surrounding house, they could very easily be heard inside the DPI.

Conclusion:

We investigated the DPI from about 10pm until 5am in the morning. None of us had any personal experiences or caught anything on video or audio. We can't say at this time that the DPI is haunted or has any paranormal activity going on. It is possible that nothing wanted to cooperate on this particular night .  Even if the DPI isn't haunted, the place is full of history and great food that will last a very long time to come.
