History:  This house in Southington, Ct was built some time in the 1870's and was originally owned by a German family. Not much is known about the history of the property or any deaths that occurred here. It's very strange, but the history records from the town and historical society don't go back far. We also tried calling the Southington police department to find out about deaths in the house. They only had records going back until about 1991. So, the history is still a mystery. Now the house is converted into a two family house.

Claims of activity:   Phantom smells of chicken soup and cinnamon can be smelled on the 2nd floor of the house from time to time. Shadows are seen out of the corner of your eye in the upstairs bedroom. Cold spots have been felt on the first floor in one of the corners of the room. Strange feelings of being watched in the basement. A foggy mist has been seen on the 2nd floor in the master bedroom. The tenant has seen a shadow figure in the corner of her bedroom standing in the corner staring at her across the room. Around Jan. 1st of 2009, the owner of the house was coming down from the attic when he saw a woman in a ripped dress pass through the hall and into the bedroom. When he went to see who it was, there was nobody there.

The investigation: There was a lot of space to cover in this house and we wanted to make sure it was covered from attic to basement, so we had a full team of 11 for the night including 2 reporters for the Southington Observer.

We had all of our equipment out for this one to try and capture any evidence we could for the client. Night vision video cameras, surveillance cameras and monitor, digital recorders, EMF detectors, KII meters, and IR thermometers were all used on this case.

The group was split up into 3 groups of 3 and 2 on the monitor at most times. Some of the things that were noticed throughout the investigation were: when a car passed by outside it did cast shadows on all the walls. Out of the corner of one's eye while sitting in the dark, it could look like moving figures. The radiator made popping or snapping noises from time to time that lasted about a minute in different rooms of the house. There were smells coming from the beauty products in the apartment's bedroom next to a door leading into the master bedroom of the owners house. Could this be the cause of the phantom smells? We aren't saying that this was in fact the cause of some of the claims, but could be alternative reasons for them and something to look out for when things are seen, heard, or smelled. We couldn't find any alternative reasons for seeing a for or a mist rolling in to the master bedroom. That one left us scratching our heads.

At one point during the investigation Sal and newspaper reporter Rob were in the apartment on the 2nd floor when noises were heard coming from the attic. To them it sounded like footsteps and shuffling. They thought it was one of our other teams up there, but only to find out that at that time of the night, we had nobody in the attic. Sal was lucky enough to catch these sounds on his digital recorder.

We later told the client about the footsteps that were heard and he told us that they too have heard footsteps coming from the attic and 2nd floor, but chose not to tell us about them to find out if we would experience the same thing.

Another thing that happened that night was while Tyler and Sarah where down in the basement, they had the KII meter out and the led lights on it lit all the way up and then all the way back down again indicating there was a electromagnetic energy in the area. The spike on the KII happened a couple of times for reasons unknown.

Investigator Jay was taking pictures on the 2nd floor when he caught a strange haze and orb like object in one of his pics.

There were a couple of possible EVP's that were caught as well.

Unexplained tapping was caught on recorder in the attic by Dan after Alec asked if whatever was there could make itself known. The tapping was not heard at the time of the recording.

The investigation went very well. The client was thrilled and said we were very knowledgeable and professional. He also mentioned he would love to have us come back again in the near future.

Conclusion:Our personal experiences were limited on the investigation to a couple, but we did manage to capture a couple of pieces of evidence that will be posted below. Some evidence is still under review and if we find anything, it will be posted as its found. There is evidence to suggest there is paranormal activity present. Although, some of the CPEAR members need more time to be convinced that the house is truely haunted. A little more time investigating here is needed to come to a definite conclusion.

We would like to thank Vic for letting us come into his home to investigate. We had a great time.
